April 7th – Slower

A bluebird pair checking out a nesting box (and assessing the likelihood of being able to hold onto it against the growing number of Tree Swallows). -AR

We banded more birds today (20 vs 14 yesterday) but the number and variety of birds that was around this morning was much lower than yesterday. Yesterday you just “felt” the avian energy, that birds were on the move. Today? Not so much….. We encountered 9 fewer species today than yesterday. I’m ready for the next pulse.

Two Tree Swallows ( including one with a band). -AR
